History of Shirdi Sai Temple Nagpur.

On the occasion of one of the event organized in Nagpur for 50th Punyathithi of Saibaba, Saint Gulabrao of Nagpur declared that there will be one Saibaba temple in Nagpur. Keeping this point in mind few people started thinking how it will happen?

Then they came to know that Saibaba devotee Mr. Gopalrao Buti(Baba’s ardent devotee) was there with Saibaba for around 10 years and he constructed Shirdi Saibaba Samadhi temple in Shirdi. So these people (Trust members) went to Mr. Buti and told about their intentions of constructing the temple in Nagpur. Mr. Buti was having Saibaba’s cloths and UDI which he gave to trust people for Darshan. Having the darshan and grace of Baba through this meeting and divine intervention trust members started work for constructing Saibaba temple.
Pandit Bimsen Joshi was friend of Mr. Babasaheb Utterwar(Currently Trust head). To collect fund for buying the temple land Mr. Bimsen Joshi performed for free in a programme organized to raise funds.
The famous Indian Actor Mr. Dilip Kumar who is supporter of SARVA DHARMA SAM BHAV (SPIRITUAL UNIFORMITY) and a Saibaba devotee also performed in above said programme to raise funds. From the funds raised ,land was purchased for starting the construction activity.
Now next step was to put foundation stone, to perform this process Actor Dharmendra and Actress Hema malini was requested and they agreed to it. Once this was done then many devotees donated lakhs of money for construction purpose (Among devotes who donated one was Mr. Saraf and one Mumbai based business man Mr. Shayam Kumar)

Now for Saibaba Idol which is kept in temple as of now, one late Mr. Babulala Barse of Nagpur constructed whole Idol and gave it to temple. This idol gave a really magnificent look to temple and considered as similar to idol kept in Shirdi temple. After this Pran Pratistan programme was conducted on 3rd December 1979. It was done by Sati Godavari Matha. She is from Sakori( Place near to Shirdi). She was student of Saint Upansni Maharaj. After inauguration there was five days long event. Many singers and artists participated in that event. All staff members of Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan also participated. Mr Salve (previous minister) along with two more persons contributed a lot.
In past 20 years this temple is gaining lot of importance. With one realization of Shirdi temple constructed by Mr. Buti, trust started and completed all the work of temple.
Saibaba’s philosophy was accepted by people. Saibaba always lived simple life. Saibaba’s philosophy was of SARVA DHARMA SAM BHAV. Saibaba gave darshan to one devotee from Poland in the form of Jesus Christ and they felt nice and got relived from tension of their daughter’s future in India and visited the Sai temple Nagpur.
All the Aartis are performed every day. Maha Prasad is given on every Thursday. And approximately 5000 people take Maha Prasad on every Thursday. It’s severed at 12.30.

Construction of Dwarkamai is also a Miracle of Saibaba:

1) Trust got the land for construction of Dwarkamai at price around 10 times lesser than what it was at that time.

2) SINHASAN kept inside Dwarakamai was donated by a devotee. It was worth 1 lakh.

3) Dhuni (Scared fire) was given by Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan to kept in Nagpur Saibaba temple.
There are seven members in temple management committee and Mr. Babasaheb Utterwar played vital role in planning and organizing all the activities related to temple. Mr. Utterwar believes that we will perform our work; it’s up to Saibaba to give us success. He believes that its live Saibaba temple and satisfying Devotees wishes and giving them satisfaction. He invested his savings for temple construction activities. But Saibaba never let him live homeless.
Jai Sai Ram .
